Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Effective 2026-10-21. Last updated 2026-10-21.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or trade inquiries to other law firms.
We do use advertising tools that may count as sharing your information for targeted advertising under some state privacy laws. This page explains exactly what that means and how to turn it off.
What "sell" and "share" mean here
These words have specific meanings in privacy law, and they are broader than most people expect:
- Sell means disclosing personal information to another business for money or other valuable consideration. Money does not have to change hands.
- Share means disclosing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising — targeting you with ads on other sites and apps based on activity here.
We use those broad definitions on this page, rather than the everyday meaning of "selling your data", so that what we tell you is accurate.
What actually happens on this site
We do not sell personal information for money. We have never sold inquiry details to another firm, and we do not intend to.
We do use advertising tools that may count as "sharing". This site runs the Meta Pixel, the Google Ads tag and call-tracking software. The pixel tells Meta that a page was viewed and that an inquiry was submitted, along with a value and a submission identifier. It does not receive your name, contact details, or anything you told us about the accident — we configured it that way deliberately. Even so, because that information can be used to target advertising to you elsewhere, the honest answer is that it may amount to sharing under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we would rather say so than rely on a technicality.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
How to opt out
Any one of these works. You do not need to explain why.
1. Send a Global Privacy Control signal
Some browsers and extensions send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal automatically. Where it applies, we treat that signal as an opt-out request for that browser, with no further action needed from you. You can find browsers and extensions that support it at globalprivacycontrol.org.
2. Turn off the advertising tools directly
- Meta: facebook.com/settings?tab=ads
- Google: myadcenter.google.com
- Industry opt-outs: optout.aboutads.info, optout.networkadvertising.org
- Clear this site's cookies and site data in your browser settings, and block third-party cookies.
3. Tell us
Contact us by any of the routes below and say you want to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We will action it and confirm.
- Phone: (336) 559-7530
- Mail: Thompson Law Firm, 301 N. Main Street, Suite 2449, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Responsible attorney: Brian E. Thompson, Esq.
We will act on an opt-out request within 15 business days. You do not need an account, and we will not ask you to create one.
Your other rights
Separately from opting out, you can ask us to tell you what we hold, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, or limit how we use sensitive information. Some records — a consent record, or a file we are professionally required to retain — may have to be kept even after other information is deleted. We will tell you if that applies.
Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Someone acting on your behalf
An authorized agent may submit a request for you. We will ask for written proof that you authorized them, and we may ask you to confirm it directly.
We will not penalize you for asking
We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised any of these rights.
Verifying it is really you
Before we act on a request about specific information, we will take reasonable steps to confirm the request comes from you — usually by matching the contact details you give against what we hold. An opt-out request does not require the same verification, and we will honor it either way.
