Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-10-21. Last updated 2026-10-21.
This policy explains what Thompson Law Firm ("we", "us") collects through this website, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to this site only, not to other sites we link to.
Thompson Law Firm is a law firm. Information you send us about a potential claim is treated as confidential, and our professional obligations to prospective clients apply to it whether or not we end up representing you.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
If you complete the case evaluation form, we collect:
- Contact details — first and last name, phone number, email address.
- Your answers about the accident — whether you were in a motor vehicle accident, roughly when the accident happened, who you believe was at fault, whether the other driver had insurance, whether you carry uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, whether you already have an attorney, whether you are looking to change representation, and the state where the accident happened.
- Your consent record — the exact wording of the consent you agreed to and the date and time you agreed to it.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser — your browser's user-agent string, whether you are on a phone, tablet or desktop, the page address you are on, the page you arrived from, and how long you spend on the page.
- Advertising identifiers — if you arrive from an ad, the campaign
parameters in the link (
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_term,utm_content) and any click identifier the ad platform adds (gclid, gbraid, wbraid, fbclid, msclkid, ttclid). - An identifier for your submission, generated on your device, used to keep a single inquiry from being counted twice.
We do not ask for, and this site does not collect, your Social Security number, financial account details, or sensitive personal records.
2. How we collect it
Three ways:
- You type it in. Nothing from the form reaches us until you press the submit button.
- Local storage in your browser. We save your partly-finished answers so you can come back and pick up where you left off, and we save which ad brought you here so the inquiry is credited correctly. This is stored on your own device. Clearing your browser data deletes it. See section 7 for how long it lasts.
- Third-party tags. The advertising and call-tracking tools described in section 5 set their own cookies and identifiers.
3. How we use it
- To review your inquiry and contact you about it.
- To decide whether we are able to help with your claim.
- To keep a record that you consented to be contacted, which the law requires us to be able to show.
- To measure which advertising produces genuine inquiries, so we do not waste money on advertising that does not.
- To detect and filter automated or fraudulent submissions.
- To comply with our legal and professional obligations.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal effects on you. The form may tell you we are unlikely to be able to help based on your answers; that is not a legal opinion, and no attorney has reviewed your case at that point.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or trade inquiries to other law firms. We share it only with:
- Service providers who work on our behalf and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes — the system we use to manage inquiries, our phone and messaging providers, and our website host.
- Advertising platforms, and only the limited measurement information described in section 5 — never your answers about the accident.
- Co-counsel or a referral firm, if your case would be better handled by another firm — and only with your knowledge and agreement, as our professional rules require.
We may also disclose information where we are required to by law, by court order, or by the rules governing our profession; to protect our legal rights; or to a successor in the event of a merger or transfer of the business.
5. Advertising, analytics and call tracking
This site runs the following third-party tools:
| Tool | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) |
Measures which ads produce inquiries and lets us reach similar audiences. | That a page was viewed and that an inquiry was submitted, plus a value, a currency and a submission identifier. Not your name, contact details, or any of your answers about the accident. |
| Google Ads (gtag.js) |
Measures which ads and search terms produce inquiries, so bidding can favour the ones that do. | That a page was viewed, and — only once we have actually received an inquiry we are able to help with — that a conversion happened, with a non-personal submission identifier. Not your name, contact details, or any of your answers about the accident. |
| Call tracking (number pool) |
Shows a different phone number depending on the ad you arrived from, so a phone call can be matched to the advertising that produced it. | Page and session information, and the fact that a call was placed to the displayed number. Calls may be recorded or monitored; you will be told if so at the start of the call. |
| Our inquiry management system | Stores and manages the inquiry so someone can follow it up. | Everything you submitted on the form. |
We deliberately limit what advertising platforms receive. The answers you give about the accident stay between you, us, and the system we use to manage inquiries.
You can limit ad tracking directly:
- Meta: facebook.com/settings?tab=ads
- Google: myadcenter.google.com and tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Industry opt-outs: optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org
- Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and site data in their settings, and several support a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honor as an opt-out where it applies.
6. Calls and text messages
If you tick the consent box and submit the form, you are giving express written consent for Thompson Law Firm to contact you at the number and email you gave us — including by automatic telephone dialing system, prerecorded or artificial voice, and SMS — about your potential claim, even if your number is on a Do-Not-Call list.
- Consent is not a condition of any purchase or of legal services. You can call us instead at (336) 559-7530.
- Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
- Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help.
- You can withdraw consent at any time using the contact details in section 12.
We keep a record of the exact consent wording you saw and when you agreed to it. That record exists to protect you as much as us.
7. How long we keep it
| What | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Unfinished form answers | Your browser | 3 days, then discarded automatically |
| Which ad brought you here | Your browser | 90 days |
| Submitted inquiry and consent record | Our systems | As long as needed to respond and to meet our professional and legal record-keeping obligations. Consent records are kept at least 5 years. |
You can delete everything stored in your browser at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this site.
8. Your choices and rights
Whatever state you live in, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Give you a copy of it.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it, subject to records we are required to keep — a consent record, or a file we must retain under our professional obligations, may have to be kept even after other information is deleted.
- Stop contacting you.
Depending on where you live, some of these may be legal rights rather than courtesies, and additional rights may apply. We do not require you to prove residency to make a request — we will honor it either way where we can. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these.
To make a request, use the details in section 12. We will verify that the request genuinely comes from you before acting on it, and will respond within 45 days where a deadline applies.
For selling and sharing specifically, see Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
9. Security
This site is served over HTTPS, and information submitted through the form is transmitted encrypted. We limit access to inquiry records to the people who need it to do their job. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Please do not send documents, records or account details through this form. If we need them, we will tell you a secure way to send them.
10. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it. A parent or guardian may submit an inquiry on behalf of a minor.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
