Terms of Use

Effective 2026-10-21. Last updated 2026-10-21.

These terms govern your use of this website, operated by Thompson Law Firm. By using the site or submitting the form, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Thompson Law Firm is a law firm, and this site is attorney advertising. Reading it, or sending us a message through it, does not make us your lawyers.

1. This site does not give legal advice

Everything on this site is general information. It is not legal advice, it is not a legal opinion, and it is not a substitute for speaking to a lawyer about your own situation. Laws differ by state and outcomes depend on facts specific to each case. Do not delay seeking legal advice, or disregard advice you have already received, because of something you read here.

2. Submitting the form does not make us your lawyers

Sending us your details through this form does not create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship begins only when we and you sign a written representation agreement. Until then we have not agreed to act for you, and we may be unable to — for example because of a conflict of interest, or because the case is outside what we handle.

Until a written agreement is signed, please do not send us confidential or time-sensitive documents through this site.

Deadlines will not wait for us. Every claim has a filing deadline — a statute of limitations — and missing it can end your claim permanently, however strong it was. Submitting this form does not stop, pause or extend any deadline. If your deadline is close, speak to a lawyer immediately rather than waiting for a reply.

3. No promises about outcomes

Nothing on this site is a guarantee, warranty or prediction about the result of any claim. Prior results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome. Any compensation range shown while you answer the questions is a rough illustration generated from the answers you select — it is not a case valuation, a settlement offer, or a promise of recovery. No attorney has reviewed your case at that point. Many claims recover less than any range shown, and some recover nothing.

4. Fees

Where we take a case on a contingency basis, there is no attorney fee unless we recover compensation for you. Case costs and expenses may be handled differently from fees, and the exact terms will be set out in the written fee agreement you sign before any representation begins. Nothing on this site is that agreement.

5. Information you give us must be accurate

You agree that what you submit is true to the best of your knowledge, that you are at least 18 (or a parent or guardian submitting on behalf of a minor), and that the phone number and email address you give us are yours to give consent for. Giving someone else's contact details without their permission may expose you to liability, and we will act on the consent you give.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use this site to submit false or automated inquiries, to interfere with its operation, to attempt unauthorized access, to scrape or harvest content, or for any unlawful purpose. We may refuse service, block access, or delete submissions that appear fraudulent or automated.

7. Communications

If you tick the consent box, you agree to be contacted at the number and email you provide, including by automated dialing system, prerecorded or artificial voice, and SMS. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or of legal services. Message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to opt out. Calls may be recorded or monitored for quality and training. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

The content, design and markup of this site belong to Thompson Law Firm or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, or use the content commercially without written permission.

9. Links to other sites

Where we link to a site we do not run, we are not responsible for its content, accuracy, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.

10. Disclaimer

This site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that information on it is complete or current.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Thompson Law Firm will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of this site — including any failure of the site to transmit a submission. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here limits a lawyer's professional obligations to an actual client.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Thompson Law Firm against claims arising from your misuse of this site or your breach of these terms, including claims that you submitted someone else's contact details without their permission.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to this site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

15. Contact

Attorney Advertising. This website is an advertisement for legal services by Thompson Law Firm. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
